Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry explores the roots of American tattooing through the life of its most iconoclastic figure, Norman 'Sailor Jerry' Collins. Between 1940 and 1973, Sailor Jerry became known as one of the greatest practitioners of classic American tattooing. Sailor Jerry tattooed for many years, mostly in his small shop in Honolulu, Hawaii until his death in 1973. Through rare interviews, photographs and hours of archival footage, Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry examines the past, present and future of the global tattooing phenomenon.
